CAMPAIGN AGAINST MOSQUITO-BORNE DISEASES
Mosquitoes cause around 700,000 deaths a year from diseases such as malaria, dengue fever, leishmaniasis, west Nile virus, chikungunya, yellow fever, zika fever, Japanese encephalitis and rift valley fever. The risk of contracting a mosquito-borne disease is one faced by many of our employees around the around the world, especially those living and/or working in Africa, Asia or South America.
Dietsmann is fully committed to complying with the most stringent health, safety, environment and quality (HSEQ) standards and, in particular, to ensuring all its employees are aware of the health risks they face and how to protect themselves from these risks. Towards this end, in addition to providing fundamental health and hygiene rules employees must observe, the Company regularly implements campaigns focused on a particular health aspect or risk. One recently-launched campaign is aimed at providing employees and their families with advice about how to protect themselves from mosquito-borne diseases and prevent mosquitoes from breeding. The campaign is being promoted in various languages and includes on-site information sessions focusing on each disease.

The African continent is home to a huge proportion of these cases, accounting for 92% of the cases and 93% of the deaths.
At Dietsmann, an awareness campaign has been started at all African subsidiaries and our HSE Country Officers had an interactive session with all employees to relay the important message particularly that of bite prevention and vector control.
